"Forgive Yourself"

Ceramic, terra sigillata, glaze, re-purposed sari thread Dimensions Variable; 12 feet total

Forgive Yourself (2024) is a relief sculpture with a flexible installation: it is approximately 12 feet long, either vertically or horizontally. Made to be experienced through touch, it consists of nine distinctive sculptural relief plaques with raised, heavily tactile and Braille surfaces. When all the surfaces are combined, they produce a single sculptural installation with poetic phrases in Braille, the language of the blind.

This installation will find Its permanent home at the Guide Dog for the Blind Corporate Headquarters in San Rafael, CA in June 2025.

Exhibition Statement:

This series of work, I am told…(2022-ongoing) is a
way of undoing the mythologies of judgement and assumption out in the world. As
I cannot see, I am often told what my work looks like, rather than how it
feels. For me, feeling is seeing.
